Ya lo decía Manuel Machado: ''Cádiz, salada claridad''

Hace un par de semanas que Ismael y yo volvimos a Barcelona. Como siempre, todo lo bueno se acaba, y por desgracia las vacaciones no duran eternamente. Como lo único que nos apetecía hacer era comer y descansar sin irnos muy lejos, aprovechamos que la madre de Ismael está viviendo en Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz) y allí que nos fuimos a pasar un par de semanas.
Two weeks ago, Ismael and I had to come back to Barcelona. It's a pity, but all good things always come to an end and, unfortunately our holidays also had an expiration date. As the only things we wanted to do were to eat and to rest without going too far, we decided to go to Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz) for a couple of weeks, where Ismael's mom lives.

Según Ismael, esto es ''la postura absoluta''. En fin...

Teníamos muchas ganas de unas vacaciones así. Solo queríamos desconectar de la gran ciudad. Ir a un sitio tranquilo, disfrutar de la familia, descansar, levantarnos sin despertador y, sobre todo, comer bien. Creo que podemos tacharlo todo de la lista. Además, para mí la provincia de Cádiz era una asignatura pendiente. Nunca me cansaré de decirlo, pero es que vivimos en el paraíso. Tanto  Andalucía, como el resto de España, nunca decepcionan. 
We really needed this type of vacation. We just felt the need to get away from the big city. Go somewhere quiet, and enjoy our time with the family, doing nothing, getting up late with no alarms and, above all, we wanted to eat properly. Everything from that list was fully accomplished. Besides, I really wanted to go to Cádiz, as I hadn't been there yet. I'll never stop saying it, but we live in paradise. Andalucía, and the rest of Spain, are just amazing.

La verdad es que Arcos de la Frontera es un pueblo muy bonito y cuenta con mucha historia encerrada en sus estrechas calles, como lo demuestran también las construcciones de origen musulmán y, posteriormente, cristiano. Su situación geográfica, algo que no pasó desapercibido para los romanos desde el punto de vista estratégico, lo dota de unas vistas maravillosas, y el blanco de sus fachadas lo hace todavía más encantador. Aquí os dejo unas cuantas fotos, espero que os gusten.
Truth be told, Arcos de la Frontera is a really wonderful place. And it has a lot of history on its narrow streets. The buildings, both from Muslim origin and, lately, Christian are also a good proof of that. Its geographic situation didn't pass unnoticed for the Romans as a strategic point of view, and the views from the top are  really beautiful. The white facades that flood this town turn it into a more lovely place. Here are some pictures from those days. Hope you like them.

Aprovechando que estábamos en Arcos, hicimos también una escapada a Tarifa. Ismael estuvo viviendo allí un tiempo, así que él ya se lo conocía. Obviamente, es mucho mejor ir a un sitio como Tarifa en verano para poder sacarle el máximo partido. Debido a su localización, entre el Océano Atlántico y el Mar Mediterráneo, Tarifa es genial para practicar deportes como el surf, el windsurf o el kitesurf, gracias a los fuertes vientos que se generan en la zona. Aunque si no os van este tipo de deportes, también se pueden practicar otros como el buceo y se organizan excursiones para avistar ballenas. Lo que más me gustó de Tarifa (a parte del riquísimo atún que nos metimos entre pecho y espalda) es el buen rollo que desprende tanto la gente, como los locales y sus calles. We also went to Tarifa, as it's quite close to Arcos de la Frontera. Ismael lived there for a while, so he already knew it. Obviously, it's much better to visit places such as Tarifa during summer so you can get the most out of it. Due to its location, right between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, Tarifa is great to practice water sports such as surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing, due to the strong winds that hit the zone. Though, if you're not really into those type of sports, you can also try diving, and there're also trips to see the wales. What I liked the most about Tarifa (apart from the delicious tuna that we tasted) was the cool and relaxed atmosphere that we could get from the streets and also from the people who were there. Este patio está declarado como Rincón de Interés Tarifeño, y es todo gracias a Pepe Muñoz, ya fallecido. Este señor, nacido en Gijón pero afincado en Tarifa, con sus propias manos y sobre todo mucha paciencia, puso una a una las piedrecitas, los tapones de botellas, los cassettes, las pilas, las conchas, las cáscaras de pistachos... es decir, todo lo que decora este singular patio que Pepe decoró durante más de 7 años con tanto cariño y que ahora sus familiares cuidan y no dudan en enseñar a todo aquel que desee contemplarlo. Lo encontraréis en la calle Nuestra Señora de la Luz.

El Cristo de los Vientos | Tarifa
Está obra fue donada en el año 2000 por Guillermo Pérez Villalta y colocada en la Puerta de Jérez, la última puerta que se conserva de las tres que formaban la gran muralla que protegía Tarifa.

Construido por el califa Abderramán III en el año 960, debe su nombre a Alonso Pérez de Guzmán y a la gesta que en este castillo tuvo lugar en 1294. Si quieres conocer la historia, haz click AQUÍ.

Tarifa es famosa por los fuertes vientes que se generan en la zona, debido al choque del Mar Mediterráneo y el Océano Atlántico. Es muy curioso ver cómo la parte que pertenece al Mar Mediterráneo está en calma y la del Océano Atlántico está continuamente batida por las olas.
La carretera que veis en la foto lleva a la Isla de las Palomas (también conocida como Isla de Tarifa).
El extremo sur, la Punta de Tarifa (o Marroquí), es el punto más meridional de la Península Ibérica y de la Europa continental. Estuvo separada de Tarifa hasta el año 1808.

Naomi Campbell y su madre, juntas en el último fashion film de Burberry para celebrar la Navidad

La Navidad está a la vuelta de la esquina. Árboles, guirnaldas, nieve artificial, acebo, Papás Noeles de todos los tamaños y anchuras... Todos estos adornos y muchos más empiezan a inundar todos los establecimientos. Por no hablar de los anuncios de televisión. No hay mejor indicio de que la Navidad se acerca que los anuncios de colonias y los catálogos de juguetes. La magia de estas fechas llega a todas partes, incluido el mundo de la moda. En este caso, la famosa casa británica Burberry acaba de lanzar un fashion film en el que, entre otras muchas caras conocidas, se encuentran la diosa de ébano, Naomi Campbell, y Valerie Morris-Campbell, su madre, las cuales también han posado juntas para el catálogo de Navidad de la marca.
Christmas is just around the corner. Trees, garlands, fake snow, holly. Santa Clauses of all sizes... these are just some of the stuff that are starting to flood every store and house. And what about TV ads? The better club to realize that Christmas is coming are the perfume commercial and soy catalogues. The magic of this season gets everyone, even the fashion industry. In this case, the famous British firm Burberry has just launched a fashion film  in which, among other recognizable faces, we'll find the ebony goddess, Naomi Campbell, and Valerie Morris-Campbell, her mother. They also appeared together in the Christmas catalogue of the brand.

Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas es una exaltación de las tradiciones típicas de estas fechas, pero llevadas a otro nivel y con el típico clima británico como telón de fondo. Riccardo Tisci, director creativo de Burberry, ha compartido parte del vídeo en su cuenta de Instagram, aunque ya se puede ver íntegramente en Youtube. Pero para que no tengas ni que buscarlo, te lo dejo justo aquí:
Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas is an exaltación of those typical Christmas rituals, but they're taken to a higher level, with the well-known British weather as background. Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Burberry, has shared part of the film in his Instagram account, but you can watch the whole video already on Youtube. En este fashion film también podemos ver otras caras conocidas, como la actriz Kristin Scott Thomas (Gosford Park, Cuatro Bodas y un Funeral), el actor Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The Crown) y la cantante M.I.A.. Los diseños que lucen tanto Naomi como Valerie en el corto con el típico estampado tan característico de Burberry forman parte de una colección de 16 piezas diseñadas por Vivienne Westwood y que saldrán a la venta el próximo 6 de diciembre.
There're some other known faces on this fashion film, such as the actress Kristin Scott Thomas (Gosford Park, Cuatro Bodas y un Funeral), the actor Matt Smith (Doctor Who, The Crown), and the singer M.I.A.. The designs that both Naomi and Valerie wear in the film with the famous Burberry print belong to a collection of 16 pieces designed by Vivienne Westwood. They will be on sale on 6th December.

Arrasa en la música, y también en la moda. Así es Cardi B x Fashion Nova

Siguen las colaboraciones entre artistas y marcas de moda. Si hace unos días os hablaba de la colección que la cantante Rosalía ha hecho con Pull&Bear, hoy os hablo de otra artista que lo está petando a nivel mundial, Cardi B, y de la colección que ha sacado junto a Fashion Nova. Pero tanto si no conoces a Cardi B (que ya me extrañaría, aunque cuando te diga canciones suyas sabrás de sobra quién es) como a Fashion Nova, a continuación te lo cuento todo sobre ellas y, por supuesto, también sobre la colección.
Collabs between celebrities and fashion brands are a must. A few days ago I brought to the blog the collection that singer Rosalía has launched together with Pull&Bear, today I wanna talk about other artist that's huge all around the globe. I'm talking about Cardi B, and her collection for Fashion Nova. But, in case you still don't know Cardi B (which would be so rare, anyway whenever you watch the videos below you'll know who she is) or Fashion Nova, here's everything you have to know about them, and about their collab.

El pasado de Cardi B no ha sido fácil. Belcalis Almánzar, su nombre real (de pequeña le llamaban Bacardi, de ahí su nombre artístico) se crió en El Bronx (con esto ya os digo bastante). Después de una infancia y una adolescencia bastante duras, a los 19 años empezó a trabajar de estríper, llegando a someterse a diversas operaciones de cirugía. Pero todo eso ha quedado atrás. En 2013 empezó a hacerse bastante conocida a través de redes sociales como Vine e Instagram, y en 2015 participó en la sexta temporada de Love & Hip-Hop: New York, y ese ha sido su trampolín. A día de hoy, es la segunda rapera en conseguir un número 1 como solista en la lista Billboard Hot 100 después de lanzar Bodak Yellow en 2017. Este año sacó su primer álbum Invasion of Privacy, y a día de hoy ha colaborado con artistas como Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, J Balvin, Selena Gomez, Bad Bunny y Ozuna. En cuanto a su vida personal, digamos que es una artista que da bastante de qué hablar, pero eso se lo dejo a otros. Si aún no sabes de quién te hablo, échale un vistazo a los siguientes vídeos:
Cardi B's past hasn't been easy at all. Belcalis Almánzar, that's her real name (people used to call her Bacardi when she was a child, that's where  the name Cardi B comes from) was born and raised in The Bronx (this says pretty much, don't you think). She had a tough childhood and adolescence, and when she was 19, she started working as a stripper, also going through several plastic surgeries in order to get more tips. But this is the past. In 2013 she started gaining popularity in social networks such as Vine and Instagram. But the starting point of her career was in 2015 when she participated in the sixth season of Love & Hip-Hop. New York. Nowadays, she's the second solo female rapper who has achieved a number 1 at the Billboard Hot 100, with her song Bodak Yellow (2017). Her debut album was launched this year and it's called Invasion of Privacy. Musically speaking, she's collaborated with artists such as Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, J Balvin, Selena Gomez, Bad Bunny and Ozuna, among others. In terms of her personal life, let's say that she has some issues with some other artists, but I refuse to talk about that. Por otro lado, Fashion Nova es una tienda online de ropa a precios low cost. Aunque también tienen ropa masculina, su mayor target es el público femenino. Según Fashion Nova, las mujeres que llevan su ropa son mujeres aventureras y con carácter, orgullosas de cómo son tanto por dentro como por fuera. En Fashion Nova han sido muy inteligentes, ya que en solo tres años han conseguido ser una de las firmas de moda con más menciones en las redes sociales. ¿Cómo lo han conseguido? Muy fácil, copian los outfits que lucen las famosas y vendiéndolos a precios aptos para todos los bolsillos. Esto, añadido al arsenal de bloggers e influencers con los que han contactado para que los mencionaran, han hecho de Fashion Nova una firma con casi 14 millones de seguidores en Instagram. Para que os hagáis una idea, tanto el prototipo de mujer Fashion Nova como el de su estilo de ropa sería una Kardashian, una mujer poderosa, con curvas, y orgullosa de ellas. Sin duda, otro de los grandes aciertos de Fashion Nova, hacer que todas las mujeres, independientemente de su talla, pueden llevar su ropa, y que no hay nada más natural hoy en día que un selfie frente al espejo (porque no todos podemos permitirnos el llevarnos a un fotógrafo a todas partes).
On the other hand, Fashion Nova is an online shop with low cost prices. You'll finde both clothes for men and women, but her major target is the female audience. According to Fashion Nova, women who wear their clothes are adventurous and a little badass, and also proud of who they're are both outside and in the inside. Fashion Nova did things really well. In just three years, they've become in one of the fashion firms with more mentions on social networks. How did they achieve it? Quite easy, actually. They copy the outfits that celebrities usually wear and they sell them at a low cost price. Together with the fact that Fashion Nova used to a lot of bloggers and influencers to mention them on the Internet, nowadays this fashion firms has almost 14 million followers just on Instagram. To give you an idea, their target women and the style of Fashion Nova would be a Kardashian: powerful and curvy women, proud of their bodies. This has helped Fashion Nova as well: more sizes, more clients. And what's more natural nowadays that taking a selfie in front of the our mirror? (not everyone has a photographer of their own)

Pues bien, hoy 16 de noviembre, solo un día después de que la primera colección de Cardi B para Fashion Nova saliese a la venta, ya se han agotado todas las piezas de dicha colección. Un total de 80 piezas en las que destacan los colores bloque, sobre todo el negro, el azul y el burdeos, pero también el blanco, el rojo y el mostaza. Pantalones, faldas, vestidos, camisetas, abrigos... lo tienes todo para poder vestirte como Cardi B, pero pagando menos. Fashion Nova distribuyen a todo el mundo, y si se ha antojado alguna de las prendas de la colección, no te preocupes, ellos te avisan en cuando vuelva a estar disponible.
Well, the collection has been undoubtedly a huge success. It was launched yesterday and it's already sold out. The collection is formed by 80 pieces characterized by block colors, above all black, blue and burgundy, but also white, red and mustard. Trousers, skirts, dresses, tees, coats... everything you need to get dressed as Cardi B, but paying much less. Victoria's Secret Fashion Show '18

Poco os puedo decir de Victoria's Secret que no os haya contado ya en anteriores posts. Este año, los ángeles de la famosa firma de lencería han vuelto a desplegar sus alas en Nueva York. Más de 50 cuerpos esculturales han bajado del cielo durante unos minutos para hacernos soñar un poquito con uno de los desfiles más esperado del año.

There's not much that I can tell you about Victoria's Secret that hasn't been said before in this blog. This year, the angels of the famous lingerie brand have spread their wings at their hometown, New York. More than 50 sculptural bodies have fallen from heaven for a short period of time to make us dream with one of the most expected shows of the year.

El desfile ya se ha grabado, y se retransmitirá oficialmente el 2 de diciembre en Estados Unidos a las 22:00 a través de ABC Network. El año pasado en España fue DKISS la encargada de retransmitirlo simultáneamente a la emisión estadounidense y aunque todavía no se sabe nada, no se descarta que este año vuelvan a hacer lo mismo.

The show's already been recorded and it'll be officially broadcasted in the US on 2nd December at 22:00 via ABC Network. Last year in Spain it was DKISS that broadcasted the show simultaneously with the American one and, though nothing has been already confirmed, maybe they'll do the dame this year.

Probablemente lo más significativo del VSFS de este año sea la despedida de Adriana Lima, la cual no pudo contener las lágrimas al saber que ese sería su último desfile para la marca. La top model de 37 años, y que lleva 19 años trabajando para VS, dice adiós después de que el año pasado, su compañera y amiga Alessandra Ambrossio también decidiese colgar las alas definitivamente. Fue una despedida muy emotiva, con un vídeo recopilación de sus mejores momentos en los que VS le agradecía todo lo que había hecho por la marca, considerándola la mejor ángel de la historia, y desfilando en solitario. Hay un poco de controversia a cerca de los motivos que han empujado a Adriana Lima a tomar esta decisión, pero lo que sí que es cierto es que uno de los cuerpos y caras más representativos de Victoria's Secret va a dejar un huevo muy difícil de llenar.

It's likely that the most significant moment of the VSFS '18 is Adriana Lima's farewell, who couldn't stop crying just knowing that she won't be an angel anymore for VS. The 37-year-old top model says good bye to the brand after 19 years working with them, just one year later after Alessandra Ambrossio, her colleague and friend, also decided to stop ''flying'' with VS. It was a very emotional farewell, as VS prepared a video with her most significant moments thanking her for everything she'd done for the brand and considering her as the best angel of the history, and she also got to catwalk on her own. There's a little controversy about the exact reasons that led Adriana to take this decision, but what it's true is that one of the most representative faces and bodies of Victoria's Secret is leaving a hole that'll be very difficult to fill in.

También ha habido un poco de controversia con las últimas declaraciones del Director de Marketing de VS, Ed Razek, que afirmó que, por motivos comerciales, no elegirían a una mujer transgénero para  lucir los diseños de la marca en sus desfiles. En los últimos años, hemos podido ver como VS ha ido incluyendo a mujeres muy diversas en sus desfiles. De hecho, este año ha desfilado por primera vez Winnie Harlow, la top model con vitíligo que saltó a la fama concursando en America's Next Top Model y es imagen de la firma española Desigual y de la que ya he hablado también en este blog (AQUÍ). Por lo visto, Razek ha acabado retractándose de sus palabras y ha dicho que no tendría problemas en elegir a mujeres transgénero para desfilar para Victoria's Secret. Veremos qué pasa.

There's also a little controversy with the last declarations of Ed Razek, the Marketing Director of VS, He stated that, due to commercial reasons, a transgendered woman won't ever be chosen to represent the designs of the brand on the runway. Through the last years, we've seen how VS has been including very diverse women within the shows. In fact, this is the first year that we've seen Winnie Harlow on the show. I've already told you about her in this blog (HERE) but, if you don't remember her, she's a top model with vitiligo. She became famous after participating in America's Next Top Model and she's one of the most recognizable faces of the Spanish brand Desigual. It seems that Razek finally admitted that he was mistaken with his declarations and that they're open to include transgendered women on the show. Let's see what happens...

Una parte importante de este espectáculo son los artistas invitados a cantar mientras las modelos desfilan. Estamos acostumbrados a ver a unos tres artistas por show, pero este año ha sido el más multitudinario de todos, con un total de 7 artistas: Rita Ora, Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes, Kelsea Ballerini, Bebe Rexha y  The Struts.

Something that also makes the show so special is the artists that are invited to performed while the models are on the runway. Usually, there're three artist per show, but this year we could see up to seven artists: Rita Ora, Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes, Kelsea Ballerini, Bebe Rexha and The Struts.

Más cositas curiosas han sido, por ejemplo, la vuelta de Behati Prinsloo a la pasarela, después de 2 años sin desfilar para VS por cuestiones de maternidad.

Another significant moment was. for instance, the come back of Behati Prinsloo to the runway. She was away from the sow for 2 years due to her two consecutive pregnancies.

Elsa Hosk ha sido la elegida este año para lucir el Fantasy Bra, que este año lleva el nombre de Dream Angels Fantasy Bra y tiene un precio de 900.000€. Elsa lleva trabajando para VS desde el 2011 y recibió el título oficial de Ángel en el 2015 cuando lució por primera vez las alas encima de la pasarela.

The angel who was chosen to wear the Fantasy Bra this year has been Elsa Hosk. The name of the bra is Dream Angels Fantasy Bra and it has a price of 1 million dollars. Elsa's been working for VS since 2011 and she was proclaimed as an official angel in 2015 after wearing the wings for the first time.

Por supuesto, no han faltado ángeles consagrados como Taylor Hill (que abrió el desfile), Romee Strijd, Stella Maxwell, Sara Sampaio, Josephine Skriver (la elegida para lucir el Fantasy Bra el pasado año), y Candice Swanepoel (que ha lucido tipazo solo cuatro meses de haber dado a luz a su segundo hijo). No podían faltar tampoco Kendall Jenner ni tampoco las hermanas Hadid, Gigi y Bella (Gigi no pudo desfilar el año pasado en China porque le habían denegado el visado).

Of course, we could enjoy the presence of angels such as Taylor Hill (who opened the show), Romee Strijd, Stella Maxwell, Sara Sampaio, Josephine Skriver (who wore the Fantasy Bra last year), and Candice Swanepoel (who surprised everyone with her amazing figure after giving birth to her second child just four months ago). We also could see on the runway Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella (Gigi couldn't go to China last years as she had troubles with her visa).

Parece que a Rosalía no le va tan ''malamente'', ¿no?

Sin duda, Rosalía se ha convertido en la gran revelación a nivel nacional de este año 2018. Ha conquistado a medio país desde que sacó el primer single Malamente de su segundo álbum de estudio El Mal Querer, y desde entonces no ha parado. Con Rosalía no hay término medio: o la amas o no la amas tanto (''odiar'' es una palabra muy fea). Los hay que la llaman ''la Beyoncé española'' y también los que se atreven a compararla con la nueva Lola Flores. Lo que sí está claro, es que a sus 25 años, esta catalana (sí, nació en Barcelona) viene pisando fuerte, y su mezcla de trap y flamenco no deja indiferente a nadie.
There's no doubt that Rosalía has become the greatest Spanish revelation of 2018. She's conquered the country since she released Malamente, the first single of her second studio album El Mal Querer. And she's been unstoppable since then. There's no grays with Rosalía: either you love her, or you don't love her that much (''hate'' is such an ugly word). Some people call her ''The Spanish Beyoncé'' and other compare her with the new Lola Flores. What's true is that this 25-year-old Catalonian girl knows what she wants, and her mixture of trap music and flamenco is a huge success.

Además, es muy amiga de Amaia, la ganadora de Operación Triunfo 2017, y es muy probable que haya una posible colaboración entre ellas.

But, as a starter, I'll tell you that we'll see Rosalía next year in the big screen in Dolor y gloria (Pain and glory), the next Pedro Almodóvar's movie, together with Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas. Besides, she's a great friend of Amaia, the winner of Operación Triunfo 2017, and it's quite likely to see a featuring between them very soon.

Pero este post no es para hablaros del éxito musical de Rosalía (por cierto, para los que todavía no lo habéis hecho, tenéis que ver su actuación en los MTV EMAs '18 que se celebraron el pasado 4 de noviembre aquí en España, en Bilbao, la cual os dejo a continuación. Sencillamente brutal).
But I'm not writing this post to talk about Rosalía's success within the music industry (btw, you MUST watch her performance at the MTV EMAs '18 that took place here in Spain, in Bilbao, on 4th November. Simply amazing).

Este blog se llama #aRIDEthroughFASHION por algo, y aunque me gusta hablaros también de viajes y de gastronomía, la moda al fin y al cabo es el hilo conductor de todo esto. No voy a hablaros del estilo de vestir de Rosalía (que por cierto, diseñadores como María Escoté y Palomo Spain son los autores de gran parte de sus últimos outfits), sino de su primera colección de ropa que lanzará de la mano de Pull&Bear, PULL&BEARbyROSALÍA. 
The name of this blog is #aRIDEthroughFASHION for a reason. It's true that I like talking about other things that I like such as travels and food, but fashion is the essence of this whole thing. I'm not be talking about Rosalía's personal style (though, you should know that Spanish designers such as María Escoté and Palomo Spain are responsible of her latest outfits). This post is about her first capsule collection that she'll be launching together with Pull&Bear, PULL&BEARbyROSALÍA.

La colección sale a la venta hoy mismo, 12 de noviembre, tanto en tiendas físicas como online. Y como no podía ser de otra manera siendo Rosalía la imagen de dicha colección, no faltan las prendas en las que luzcan los lemas Malamente y Tra Tra. Un total de 18 prendas en las que destacan piezas como sudaderas y camisetas crop-top, tejidos como el denim, la felpa y el borreguillo, y colores como el blanco y negro, pero también otros más vivos como el rojo, el morado o el verde.
The collection is out today, 12th November, both in physical stores and online. And, being Rosalía the face of the collection, there're pieces with the slogans Malamente and Tra Tra. The collection is formed by 18 pieces such as crop-top hoodies and tees, fabrics such as denim, plush and fleece, and colors such as withe and black, but also red, green and purple.
