Models | From Wearing Fashion To Designing It

Por muy bien que un@ se conserve, la vida de modelo no dura eternamente, y es necesario tener un plan B. Estamos acostumbrados a que modelos de renombre enfoquen su vida profesional al mundo de la actuación, aunque también las hay que se atreven como diseñadoras. Y es que pasar tanto tiempo entre diseños y diseñadores, tiene que dejar huella de alguna forma.

It's true that the majority of the models have the gift of keeping themselves fit and young, but their career doesn't last forever. That's when a plan B seems to be convenient. We're used to seeing well-known models who redirect their professional lives to the acting world. Althoug, there're a bunch of them that also dare to become designers of their own brands. It seems that spending such a lot of time among designers and designs leave somehow a print on them.

Nació el 22 de mayo de 1970 en Londres. Conocida como 'la diosa de ébano', empezó su carrera de modelo con 15 años, siendo la primera mujer negra en posar para la portada de Vogue Francia con 18 años. Otras apariciones más atrevidas son las realizadas para la revista Playboy y para el libro Sex de Madonna. Recientemente se puede ver a Naomi actuando junto a Lady Gaga en American Horror Story. Hace unos días anunciaba el lanzamiento de su propia línea de lencería, I am Naomi Campbell, junto a Yamamay, para la cual también ha posado con sus diseños para Mario Testino.

She was born in May 22 (London, 1970). Known as 'the ebony goddess', she started modelling at the age of 15, becoming the first black woman appearing on the cover of French Vogue when she was 18 years old. More daring appearances are those for Playboy magazine and Madonna's book Sex. More recently, she can be seen acting with Lady Gaga in American Horror Story. Some days ago she announced that she is launching her own lingerie line, I am Naomi Cambell, together with Yamamay. She's also posed for Mario Testino with her own designs.

Después de ganar un concurso de moda en su país, se mudó a Nueva York, donde despegó su carrera como modelo, destacando sus trabajos para Victoria's Secret y Sports Illustrated. Sigue muy conectada al mundo de la moda siendo presentadora y jueza del reality de diseñadores que produce desde el 2004 Project Runway, y siendo presentadora también de Germany's Next Topmodel. Su sueño era ser diseñadora, y después de sacar su línea de joyas, una colección de zapatos para Birkenstock y una línea de ropa para Jordache Jeans, el culmen es su propia línea de lencería Heidi Klum Intimates.

She was born in June 1 (LIKE ME!!!) in Germany (1973). After winning a fashion contest in her country, she moved to New York, where she started succeeding as a model, above all working for Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated. She's deeply connected to the fashion world being host and judge of the designers reality that she produced since 2004 called Project Runway, and being also host of Germany's Next Topmodel. Her dream was to be a designer, and after launching her own jewelry line, a shoes collection for Birkenstock and a clothing line for Jordache Jeans, she culminated her desire with her own lingerie line known as Jeidi Klum Intimates.

Fundó el Fashion Café junto a Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington y Cindy Crawford, pero no tuvo mucho éxito. Su línea de lencería, Elle Macpherson Intimates, bate récord de ventas en Australia.

Elle was born in Sydney (Australia), on March 29 (1964). She was discovered in Aspen (Colorado) while she was on a ski vacation. Due to her height and athletic figure, Elle is known as 'The Body'. Among her most famous works, are those for Sports Illustrated, Playboy and Victoria's Secret. She founded the Fashion Café together with Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlingtion and Cindy Crawford, but it turned out to be a big failure. Her own lingerie line, Elle Macpherson Intimates, is a top selling brand in Australia.

Nació el 2 de enero de 1969 en California. Sus trabajos más destacados han sido para Maybelline, Calvin Klein y Giorgio Armani. Ha protagonizado más de 300 portadas de revistas, y ha colaborado con Puma, firma deportiva para la cual ha diseñado dos colecciones: Nuala y Mahanuala.

She was born in January 2 (California, 1969). Her most outstanding works have been for Maybelline, Calvin Klein and Georgio Armani. She has appeared in more than 300 magazine covers, and she worked with Puma designing two clothing lines: Nuala and Mahanuala.

Modelos & Vídeos Musicales & Viceversa

No es ninguna novedad el hecho de que los cantantes recurran a modelos famosos para que participen en sus videoclips y ya de paso darle un valor añadido... sólo basta con googlear ''modelos en videoclips'' para que os salgan cientos de enlaces con este tema. Pero yo os traigo un breve resumen con algunos de los que más me gustan, ya sea por la estética del vídeo en sí o por la producción que supone.

1) Girl Panic! de Duran Duran es uno de mis videoclips favoritos, entre otras muchas razones, por incluir a las tops que, a mi parecer, han formado parte de la mejor generación de modelos que ha existido, la de los 90. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon y Eva Herzigova se transforman en los propios Duran Duran en un vídeo lanzado en el 2011 y que intercala entrevistas con la ''banda'' e imágenes de su día a día:

2) La incombustible Madonna se rodea de chulazos en su vídeo Girl Gone Wild... y no nos extraña que se vuelva ''wild'' con todos los modelos que la acompañan, considerados entre los mejores modelos del mundo. Jon Kortajarena, Sean O'Pry, Simon Nessman, Rob Evans y Brad Alphonso acompañan a Madonna en su camino hacia lo salvaje en este vídeo del 2012:

3) Shaun Ross es un experto en videoclips. Este modelo albino, del que ya os he hablado en un post (AQUÍ). Ha salido en dos videoclips de Beyoncé (Party y Pretty Hurts), en el short film Tropico de Lana del Rey y en este de Katy Perry que podéis ver a continuación, en el cual Shaun surge de un robot y se enamora de Katy, una extraterrestre con patas de cabra:

4) Jennifer Lopez, por la que no parece que pasen los años, grabó este vídeo con otro guapazo internacional del que también se ha hablado en este blog. David Gandy (AQUÍ) protagoniza un tórrido romance con Jennifer Lopez, y es que la latina no es tonta y siempre sabe rodearse de buenorros para sus videoclips (bueno, y cuando no se trata de sus videoclips también). Aquí tenéis el vídeo de First Love por si aún no lo habíais visto:

5) A Sean O'Pry parece gustarle lo de salir en videoclips y en este caso repite con Taylor Swift en Blank Space, uno de los últimos vídeos de la cantante (que ya supera los 800 millones de visitas en YouTube). En este vídeo Taylor es una chica adinerada que vive en una mansión y con una colección de amantes que bien podría ser un guiño a su vida amorosa real. Cuando todo parece ir de color de rosa, a Taylor se le cruzan los cables y se vuelve como una cabra.... Mejor que veáis el vídeo:

6) Bad Blood es el último vídeo de Taylor Swift en el que podemos ver muchas caras conocidas entre las que se incluyen cantantes (Selena Gomez o Ellie Goulding), actrices (Lena Dunham o Jessica Alba), pero sobre todo modelos, muy amigas de la ex-cantante de country por cierto. En este vídeo todas parecen formar parte de un súper grupo de heroínas, muy del rollo X-MEN, en el que sin duda Taylor (alias Catastrophe) parece ser la líder. Disfrutad de Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford, Martha Hunt, Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge y la mejor amiga de Taylor, Karlie Kloss:

Como os dije al principio, esto solo es un pequeño resumen de todos los vídeos con cameos de modelos que podéis encontrar por internet. Hay algunos muy míticos, como el de Naomi Campbell en el vídeo In The Closet de Michael Jackson, o los que que tienen a Kate Moss como protagonista, que es toda una experta en esto de salir en videoclips. De todas formas, me encantaría que en los comentarios me pusierais cuáles son vuestros favoritos (no tiene que ser ninguno de los que veis aquí por supuesto).

There's no novelty the fact that many singers make use of famous models to appear in their music videos so they can give them an added value... you just have to google ''models in music videos'' and hundreds of links will appear. Though I bring you a brief summary with some of my favourites, sometimes because of the aesthetics of the video per se or because the production that it implies.

1) Girl Panic! of Duran Duran is one of my favourite music video, among many reasons, because it includes the tops that, according to me, are part of the best generation of models that have ever existed, that od the 90s. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon and Eva Herzigova transform themselves into Duran Duran in a video released in 2011 and which alternates interviews with the ''band'' and images of their daily lives

2) The fireproof Madonna gets surrounded by hot male models in her video Girl Gone Wild... and it's obvious that she gets wild with all those models next to her, considered to be some of the best in the world. Jon Kortajarena, Sean O'Pry, Simon Nessman, Rob Evans and Brad Alphonso go wild with Madonna in this video of 2012 

3) Shaun Ross is an expert appearing in music videos. This albino model, who has already appeared in this blog (HERE), has participated in two Beyoncé's videos (Party and Pretty Hurts), in Lana del Rey's short film Tropico and in Katy Perry's music video that you can see above. In that video, Shaun emerges from a robot and falls in love with Katy, an alien with goat legs instead of human legs

4) Jennifer Lopez, who  I think has made a pact with the devil, recorded this video with another hot international male model who has appeared in this blog too. David Gandy (HERE) and Jennifer are protagonists of a hot romance. This latin artist is smart enough to get sorrounded by hot guys for her videos (well, and not only for the videos). Enjoy her First Love music video in case you haven't seen it yet 

5) Sean O'Pry seems to like appearing in music videos and he repeats the experience this time with Taylor Swift in Blank Space, one of the latest videos of the singer (a video with more than 800 million views on YouTube). In this video, Taylor is a wealthy girl who lives in a big mansion and with a collection of lovers that could be a faithful coparison of her real love life. When everything seems to be perfect, Taylor gets completely mad... but you better watch the video!

6) Bad Blood is the latest Taylor Swift's video in which we can see a lot of famous faces such as singers (Selena Gomez or Ellie Goulding), actresses (Lena Dunham or Jessica Alba) but, above all, a lot of models, very close friends of the ex-country singer by the way. In this video, all of them seem to be part of a super group of heroines, an X-MEN sort of thing, with Taylor (aka Catastrophe) as the leader. As I said at the beginning, this is just a little summary of all the videos that include models and that you can find on the internet. There're some that are a treasure, like Michael Jackson's In The Closet with Naomi Campbell, or all the music videos with Kate Moss, who is an expert on this issue. Model of the Month | Cindy Crawford

Es una de las grandes tops de los 90 (otras coetáneas son, por ejemplo, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson o Claudia Schiffer). Cindy Crawford forma junto a todas ellas una generación de supermodelos que revolucionó el mundo de la moda hace un par de décadas.

Cynthia Ann Crawford (ese es su nombre real) nació hace casi 50 años en Illinois. Con 16 años, y mientras despanojaba maíz como parte de un trabajo de verano, un fotógrafo periodístico le sacó una foto. La repercusión que tuvo le bastó a Cindy para querer dedicarse al mundo de la moda, y con 17 años entró a formar parte de la agencia Elite Model Management. Cindy ha protagonizado más de 400 portadas de revistas. También ha hecho películas y series de televisión, además de tener su propio programa, acompañada siempre de ese lunar tan característico encima del labio.

Pero el motivo del que haya elegido hablar de Cindy Crawford (@CindyCrawford) ha sido la polémica que una foto suya tuvo hace unas semanas, En la foto en cuestión se muestra a una Cindy Crawford en lencería y con un cuerpo que, teniendo en cuenta la edad que tiene (49 primaveras, ni más ni menos), podría ser la envidia de cualquier mujer de su edad. Ya si nos fijamos más detenidamente, en la foto se aprecian esas imperfecciones que surgen inevitablemente con la edad, y es que con 49 años la piel es imposible que esté tan firme y tersa como la de alguien de 20 años, por mucho ejercicio o dieta sana que hagas.

Pues bien, en un principio Cindy declaró que la foto no tenía retoques, que ella era así tal cual. Sin embargo, a los pocos días, la top decidió tomar medidas legales ya que, por lo visto, la foto sí que había sido retocado, pero a peor.

La verdad es que esta foto pertenece a una sesión que la top protagonizó para una publicación mexicana en el 2013. Las fotos no deberían haber salido sin retocar, pero sin saber cómo, se filtró a la red y se convirtió en viral. Una de las consecuencias más inmediatas: tanto Cindy como la revista se han convertido, sin quererlo, en embajadoras de la ''belleza real''. Sea como sea, no se puede negar que Cindy está estupenda, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta su edad y que ha sido madre de dos hijos. She's one of the greatest tops of the 90s (together with, for instance, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Elle MacPherson or Claudia Schiffer). All of them constitute a generation of supermodels that changed the fashion world a couple of decades ago.

Cynthia Ann Crawford (that's her real name) was born almost 50 years ago in Illinois. When she was 16, and while she was detasseling corn as part of a summer job, a journalist photographer took a picture of her. the repercusion that it had it was enough for Cindy to take the decision of becoming a model, and so when she was 17 she became part of the Elite Model Management model agency. Cindy has appeared in more than 400 magazine covers. She has also showed up at movies and TV series and conducted her own TV show, always with that particular mole upon her lip that makes her special.

The reason I've chosen to talk about Cindy Crawford (@CindyCrawford) was the controversy that a picture of her had some weeks ago. In that picture, she appears wearing linjerie as as part of a photoshoot and with a body that, taking into account her age (49 springs), it could be the envy of any woman of her age. If we look at it with greater detail, we can appreciate those imperfections that inevitably emerge as we grow old. The truth is that the skin of a mature woman can't be as firm and smooth as that of a 20-year-old girl, even though you follow a healthy diet and a lot of work out.

Initially, Cindy declared that the picture hadn't been retouched, that her body is as we see it in the pic. Nevertheless, a few days later, the top decided to take some legal measures because, as it seems, the picture had been retouched indeed, but for the worst.

The truthe is that the picture belongs to a shooting that the top did for a Mexican publication in 2013. The pictures had to be retouched but it was leaked on the internet and it became viral. One of the most inmediate consequences: both Cindy and the magazine have become, unintentionally, as ambassadors of the ''real beauty''. Be that as it may, it can't be denied that Cindy looks incredible, above all taking into account her age and that she's a mother of two kids. OLE FOR YOU!!
