¡Notición para todos los amantes de la saga Pokémon! Mañana, a las 11:00, en pleno centro de Barcelona, REINO de Juguetes inaugura la que será su décima tienda dentro de las Galerías Maldà: LA POKÉTIENDA.

Big news for all Pokémon lovers! Tomorrow at 11:00, at Barcelona city center, REINO de Juguetes is opening its tenth thematic store in Galerías Maldà: LA POKÉTIENDA.

De REINO de Juguetes ya os he hablado alguna vez en este blog (AQUÍ). De hecho, fui vendedor de magia hace un par de años (y uno bastante bueno, todo sea dicho) en Carreró Maldà, la que por aquel entonces aún era la primera tienda de Harry Potter (ahora mismo ya hay 3 dedicadas al universo Potter dentro de las Galerías y otra en la capital, en el centro comercial Xmadrid).

This is not the first time I mention REINO de Juguetes (HERE). The thing is that, about two years ago, I was a magic seller (and a pretty good one actually, truth be told) at Carreró Maldá, which at that time still was the first store about Harry Potter (currently there are 3 stores devoted the Potter universe and there is one more store at Xmadrid, in Madrid).

Y es que a pesar de los tiempos que corren, en plena pandemia COVID-19, la cabeza de Rubén, el príncipe de este REINO, no para. A poco más de un mes de haber inaugurado Woncandy Shop, una tienda inspirada en Willy Wonka y su maravillosa fábrica de chocolate, mañana viernes 21 de agosto, a las 11:00 os espera para abrir las puertas por primera vez de LA POKÉTIENDA, la primera tienda de Europa dedicada a Pokémon. ¡No me digáis que no es una fantasía!

Despide this craziness that the whole world is living due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rubén's mind is unstoppable. The prince of this KINGDOM opened less than two months ago another shop inspired on Willy Wonka and his fabulous chocolate factory: Woncandy Shop. Tomorrow, Friday 21st at 11:00, LA POKÉTIENDA is openig its doors for the first time. The first store in Europe devoted to Pokémon is already in Barcelona. What a fantasy!

Si sois de Barcelona y sois tan fans de Pokémon como yo, tenéis que pasaros sí o sí (y si sois de fuera, ya sabéis, ya tenéis una razón más para entrar en las Galerías Maldà). Encontraréis un montón de productos oficiales: peluches, lámparas, mochilas, carteras, tazas, libros, cómics, camisetas...  Además, me han chivado que el mismísimo Pikachu estará saludando a todos los que se pasen por la tienda y haciéndose fotos con todos. En principio estará por allí hasta el sábado 29. Os dejo por aquí los horarios de todas las tiendas: los lunes abren de 17:00 a 21:00, de martes a viernes de 11:00 a 14:00 y de 17:00 a 21:00 y los sábados de 11:00 a 14:00 y de 16:00 a 21:00. Eso sí, hasta nuevo aviso, acordaos que el uso de mascarilla es obligatorio (bien puesta, claro) y respetad la distancia de seguridad. 

If you live in Barcelona or nearby and you are Pokémon fans such as me, you should definitely come (and if you are from elsewhere, this is another reason to let yourselves get lost inside Galerías Maldà). You will find plenty of official products: fluffy toys, lamps, bags, wallets, cups, books, comics, T-shirts... Besides, a little bird told me that Pikachu itself will be there welcoming everyone, so don't miss the opportunity to meet him and take a picture together. In principle, he will be there until Saturday 29th. Just FYI, the stores are open within the following hours: on Mondays from 17:00 to 21:00. from Tuesdays to Fridays from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 21:00. But most important, remember that the use of a mask is mandatory and always try to maintain a safety distance.

Ana Sánchez presenta ''Barcelona Increíble'' entre hachas, licor de fuego Valyrio y Darth Vader

Ayer acudí a la presentación del primer libro de la periodista Ana Sánchez, Barcelona Increíble. Es una novela/guía en la que Ana es la protagonista y donde nos cuenta más de 100 actividades ''poco comunes'' que se pueden hacer en la Ciudad Condal. Este libro es una recopilación de todas las frikadas (en el mejor sentido de la palabra) y un homenaje a lo raro. Una labor que Ana ha podido llevar a cabo desde que hace tres años empezó su sección Barceloneando en el periódico para el que trabaja.

I attended yesterday the presentation of Barcelona Increíble, the first book of the journalist Ana Sánchez. It is a sort of novel/guide in which Ana is the protagonist and where she tells us more than 100 ''rare'' activities that you can do in Barcelona. The book is a compilation and a tribute to the weird (in the best sense of the word. It all began more or less three years ago, when Ana started a section in the newspaper she works for called Barceloneando.

La presentación tuvo lugar en Barcelona Axe Throwing, un local en el que poner a prueba tu puntería con un hacha y una diana. Y es que el tiro de hacha urbana, nacido en Canadá, está ganando cada vez más adeptos por todo el mundo. Por supuesto, Barcelona Axe Throwing aparece en el libro de Ana y, como no podía ser de otra manera, tenía que probarlo. Y no se me da nada mal, ¡tengo pruebas que lo demuestran! Y si no me creéis, ved el vídeo ;)

The presentation took place at Barcelona Axe Throwing, a space where you can test your aim with an axe and a bullseye. The urban axe throwing as a sport was born in Canada, but it is spreading all over the world. Of course, Barcelona Axe Throwing appears in Ana's book and, of course, I had to try it. And I have to say that I am quite good at it, I have proof! And if you don't believe me, just watch the video ;)

¿Queréis saber algunas de las cosas que ha hecho Ana y que encontraréis en el libro? Pues ha estado en una escuela de sirenas; se ha emborrachado con fuego valyrio; ha charlado con Kitt, el coche fantástico; ha llamado a un teléfono de poesía de emergencia; se ha comprado una sotana para poder realizar un exorcismo; y ahora nunca sale de casa sin un repelente para zombies (nunca sabes cuándo te puede hacer falta). Pero no os creáis que todo es tan guay como parece: agujetas, lumbago, indigestión por comida gigante... es lo que tienen los deportes de riesgo.

Do you want to know some of the stuff that Ana has done and that you can find in the book? She attended a school for mermaids; she got drunk with Valyrian fire; she had a conversation with Kitt, the incredible car; she has called an emergency poetry phone; she got dressed to perform an exorcism; and she never leaves her house without a zomby repellent (you never know when you could use it). But not everything is as cool as it seems: stiffs, lumbago, indigestion for eating giant food... be careful when these extreme sports.

Entre los asistentes a la presentación, no faltaron los chicos de Star Wars Catalunya. De hecho, vinieron un par de Star Troopers y el mismísimo Darth Vader, que tampoco quiso perder la oportunidad de poner a prueba su puntería lanzando unas cuantas hachas (entre vosotros y yo, mejor que siga con el sable láser). 

Some of the assistants to the presentatios were the guys from the Star Wars Catalunya. In fact, a couple of Star Troopers showed up and also the one and only Darth Vader, who didn't want to miss the chance to test his aim by throwing some axes (between you and me, not really his thing).

También estuvieron los chicos de Beyond Street Art. Han desarrollado una aplicación súper chula (beyondstreetart.com) que te permite conocer Barcelona a través de su arte urbano. En este vídeo podéis ver cómo funciona:

Tampoco podía faltar Reino de Juguetes, de los cuales ya he hablado en el blog (AQUÍ). Son los primeros en aparecer en Barcelona Increible, concretamente su Súper Friki Market. Licor de fuego Valyrio; hidromiel; cava de 24 quilates; vino de lágrimas de unicornio; insectos con sabor a barbacoa o a las finas hierbas; galletas de la suerte; o Pringles y Oreos de sabores que nunca has visto son solo unos pocos productos de los cientos que puedes encontrar en este supermercado situado en las Galerías Maldà. 

The guys from Reino de Juguetes didn't want to miss this event, also. I've already talked about them in the blog (HERE). They're the first one to appear in Barcelona Increible with the Super Friki Market. Valyrian fire liquor; 24 carats cava; unicorn tears wine; insects with bbq and fine herbs flavour; fortune cookies; or Pringles and Oreos with flavours that you've never seen are just a few out of the hundreds of products that you'll find in this market located inside Galerías Maldá.

Long Live Reino de Juguetes!

Érase una vez unas galerías comerciales situadas en pleno centro de Barcelona. Puede que aquellos que seáis de Barna y que tengáis una edad no muy avanzada, no os suene de nada el nombre de Galeries Maldà, pero estas galerías eran todo un referente durante los años 70 y 80. De hecho, fueron las primeras galerías comerciales de Barcelona, y están construidas en lo que antiguamente era el Palau Maldá, el palacio en el que residía Rafael d'Amat i de Cortada, más conocido como el Barón de Maldá. 

Once upon a time there was a shopping gallery located in Barcelona city center. Those of you who are quite young may not know anything about the Galeries Maldà, but this mall was pretty famous in the 70s and the 80s. In fact, it was the first shopping mall opened in Barcelona. Formerly it was known as the Palau Maldà, a palace in which Rafael d'Amat i de Cortada, mostly well-known as Baron Maldà, used to live.

A día de hoy las galerías no tienen (de momento) tanta fama como antaño, pero hace cosa de un año un príncipe al que todos conocen como Rubén llegó a lomos de su noble corcel y decidió que ese sería el lugar donde su reino tomaría forma, un reino al que llamaría Reino de Juguetes. Con un buen puñado de ilusiones, plantó una habichuela mágica que se convirtió en Carreró Maldà, la primera tienda temática de España dedicada al gran universo de Harry Potter. Fue tal el éxito, que a esta tienda pronto le siguieron Thronestore BCN (dedicada a Juego de Tronos), Funko Barcelona (que actualmente cuenta con más de 1200 referencias de figuras Funko Pop) y KameHame Shop (dedicada a Dragon Ball). Todas ellas están ambientadas al 100%, desde la decoración, a la música, como los uniformes, para hacer que la experiencia sea completa.
Nowadays, the mall is not as famous as it used to be (for the moment). Although, almost a yer ago a prince named Rubén arrived to the mall riding his noble steed and he decided to turn the place into his kingdom, a kingdom called Reino de Juguetes. Full of hope, he planted a magical bean and it rapidly grew into Carreró Maldà, the first thematic shop of Spain about the great Harry Potter world. It was such a success, that the opening of the shop was followed by new ones: Thronestore BCN (all about Game of Thrones), Funko Barcelona (which currently has more than 1,200 references of Funko Pop) and KameHame Shop (about Dragon Ball). All of them are 100% decorated and the music and uniforms have been chosen to make you feel the whole experience.

Como por arte de magia, las galerías volvieron a cobrar vida, y es que es prácticamente imposible resistirse a la felicidad que irradian los habitantes del reino. Hasta yo mismo no pude evitar ser parte de Reino de Juguetes y durante unos meses, mi alter ego Bertus Snape estuvo al frente de Carreró Maldà, rodeado de varitas, figuras, objetos de coleccionismo y todo lo que te puedas imaginar (y mucho más) de Harry Potter. ¡No os hacéis ni una idea de lo bien que me lo pasé! Bueno, y me lo sigo pasando bien, porque me encanta ir para ver a mis antiguos compañeros y ver las novedades.
As if by magic, the mall started flourishing again, and it is totally comprehensible. No one can resist the happiness that the inhabitants of the kingdom irradiate. Even myself couldn't help becoming a part of Reino de Juguetes. For several months, my alter ego Bertus Snape was at Carreró Maldà surrounded by wands, figures, replicas of collecting objects and everything that you can imagine (and much more) about Harry Potter. You couldn't imagine the great time that I spent there! Actually, I'm still having a good time 'cause I love returning to the kingdom quite frequently to visit my former fellows and see what's new.

Prácticamente un año más tarde desde que se plantó esa primera habichuela en las galerías, el Príncipe Rubén, cuyo único deseo es llenar el mundo de más y más magia, ha hecho posible que exista un Carreró Maldá II porque, para qué engañarnos, uno nunca se cansa de Harry Potter. ¿Pero, qué podréis encontrar en una y en otra?
Almost a year later since that first bean was planted in the mall, Prince Rubén, whose major desire is to fill up the world with more and more magic, has planted the Carreró Maldà II. To be honest, it is impossible to get tired about Harry Potter. But, what can you find in the two of them?

En Carreró Maldà tenéis todo el merchandising habido y por haber de la saga. La tienda está dividida en las cuatro Casas de Hogwarts (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw y Slytherin), en las cuales encontraréis artículos específicos de dichas Casas pero también más genéricos (desde el andén 9 3/4, pasando por Dobby, las Reliquias de la Muerte y hasta una sección sobre Animales Fantásticos). Hay, entre otras muchas cosas: lámparas; peluches; felpudos; placas; puzzles; tazas; camisetas y sudaderas; juegos de mesa; libros y un montón de cosas necesarias para vuelta al cole, como mochilas, carpetas, agendas o bolígrafos, y por supuesto las capas de mago, grageas de todos los sabores, ranas de chocolate con cromos y cerveza de mantequilla.
At Carreró Maldà you will find a whole world of merchandising about the saga. The store is divided into the four different Houses of Hogwarts (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin), with specific items of the Houses but also with more generic ones (all about Platform 9 3/4, Dobby, the Deathly Hallows and also a section about Fantastic Beasts). There are, among many other things: lamps; teddy bears; doormats; plaques; puzzles, cups; tees and hoodies; board games; books and all you need to come back to school with bags and trolleys, folders, notebooks, diaries and pens. And of course, the capes, Bertie Bott's every flavor beans, chocolate frogs with cards and butter beer.

At Carreró Maldà II there're plenty of deluxe articles. The characters' wands; jewelry (watches, bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings); the Nimbus 2001 and the Firebolt; a lot of figures of the characters and the creatures; Deat Eaters' masks, and objets such as the Golden Egg, the Triwizard Cup, the golden snitch, the Philosopher's Stone or the Slughorn's hourglass, among many others. Of course, all of them officially licensed.

Tanto las dos tiendas dedicadas a Harry Potter como las otras tres que también forman parte de Reino de Juguetes son el lugar perfecto para perderse y dejarse llevar por la magia, la fantasía y reconectar con ese niño que llevamos dentro y que a veces nos olvidamos de que existe. Las puertas de las galerías y del Reino están abiertas a todo el mundo, incluido mascotas y criaturas mágicas de cualquier tipo, procedencia y tamaño, así que no tenéis excusa para no pasaros. Se encuentran junto a la Rambla, en la calle Portaferrissa 22, y abren todos los días de la semana.
Both stores about Harry Potter, and also the other three that belong to Reino de Juguetes are the perfect place to get lost and let yourself go by magic and fantasy, and also to reconnect with that inner child that all of us have inside, but most of the times we forget about his existence. The galeries and Reino de Juguetes welcome everyone, even pets and magic creatures of all kinds, sizes and origin, so there's no excuse to not come and visit. You'll find them next to La Rambla, Street Portaferrissa 22, and the stores are opened every day of the week.
