In this post, I'm gonna talk about a great place to eat in Ayamonte, And why Ayamonte? You might be wondering... Well, the thing is that Ayamonte has become one of my most frequent destinations. If you visit the South of Spain, try to visit it 'cause it's quite charming. Portugal is just across the river and there's a ferry which take you from one shore to the other and we'll only cost you 1€. To be truth, it's very easy to find a good place to eat in AyamonteSeafood and fish is exquisite and it's a great place to have some ''tapas''!

We're basically creatures of habit. When we like something, it's difficult to us to change it and thus exploring new territories. Last time I went to Ayamonte, its biggest celebration was taking place: Las Angustias, which finished on Saturday. It turned out that on Sunday, most of the bars and restaurantes were closed (Yes, I don't understand how such a tourist place can close almost all the establishments on a Sunday and during sumer).

Taking a walk and also looking for a place to eat, we reached La Laguna, a beautiful square with some terraces and where there's always a lot of hustle and bustle. It was there where we saw that La Puerta Ancha was open, so we decided to give it a chance. And we weren't wrong.

We had lunch at its terrace. At that time of the day we were out of the sun and it was so nice being outside. The terrace is kinda divided into two main zones: one of them is located next to the main entrance, with blue and white barrels as tables, and the other zone is closer to the Square and it has an awning. Inside, the atmosphere is quiet and welcoming, with a decoration between rustic and modern, which is well balanced

We ordered a cured cheeses board, a wagyu beef carpaccio with a nuts vinaigrette and low temperature cooked truffled yolk, and calamari croquettes with its ink and seaweed allioli, all of it accompanied with a fresh Rioja wine. Everything was delicious, but the croquettes were superb. I'm looking forward to eating them again!

It's a different alternative to what Ayamonte often offers. Really good attention by the staff, the presentation of the dished is quite attractive and the relation quality-price is very appropriate.

A TU BOLA | Gourmet Street Food in BCN

A TU BOLA

A TU BOLA is a small restaurant located in Carrer de L'Hospital 78, at the heart of Raval in Barcelona. It's been almost two years since I arrived to BCN and, though I knew its existence since quite a lot and I live pretty close, I've never had the chance to come in. But last week that changed. What a great discovering!

Their speciality are meat balls (made of beef, pork or chicken). We were three people and we ordered the three of them. But don't panic, they also have fish balls made of prawns, and vegan options, as those made of chickpeas and sweet potato (that we wish to try very soon). We also ordered hummus with grilled mushrooms and, althought it was delicious, with the balls would had been enough. Besides, apart from dishes, that were what we asked for, you can also try the balls with pita bread or, if you prefer, you can have them as a tapa.

The food is really fresh and the balls are 100% made by them, and that's something you can really appreciate. What an amazing taste explosion. We really enjoyed eating them and, though this is gonna sound weird, we tried each other's balls... The concept of Open Kitchen gives the restaurante an added value, as you can witness how they make all the food in front of your eyes.

If the quartier of Raval always creates an impression on you by its own, if you have the chance to go to A TU BOLA, just do it. I'm completely sure you won't regret it. Good service, great product and nice price. It'll cost you more or less the same as a menu at one of those fast food restaurants that we all know and the difference is brutal. It's a perfect alternative to go with your friends and try something different.

Zoologic Restaurant | En Busca De La Gallina De Los Huevos De Oro

Zoologic Restaurant

Gemma, Juan, Sharonne & Vanessa

I had to tell you this. A couple of weeks ago I went to have dinner to a wonderful place. Really wonderful, in every sense. If you haven't been to Zoologic Restaurant yet, I don't know what are you waiting for!

This restaurant is located in Pueblo Español (Barcelona) since 2015, although the restaurant per se opened for the first time in 2008. It's a magical place, trust me. The food is amazing, and the decoration and the atmosphere that the team of  Zoologic Restaurant creates is incredible.

First of all you have to imagine a zoo, not a regular zoo but a futuristic one. Now imagine that this zoo has been abandoned for half a millennium and that a new an more advanced specie took over it. This is Zoologic Restaurant, a space invaded by nature, statues of new species that have never been seen before, a wild flora and fauna that the Zoologic Restaurant team defines as a "drama-fantastic-futuristic landscape".

Vanessa Guillén and Juan Carballido created this space. Juan also designs and creates all the wardrobe and the decoration! Both of them, together with my beloved Sharonne Shimai and ... are in charge of making us enjoy for almost an hour and a half (which goes soooo fast!) with their incredible talent. Belly dancing, monologues, pole dance, impersonation, live music... Experienced artists who love what they do and they're able to transmit that feeling.

But before the show, it comes something that I'd kill for... Yes, food! They have 6 different menus and also a vegan one. If one of you have some kind of allergy or intolerance they adapt it according to your necessities. The menus are constantly renewing themselves, and the truth is that you can notice the quality and freshness of the products. I ordered the carpaccio of Raf tomatoes, basil, tinned tuna and crispy onion as the starter (something fresh and healthy to begin with), as the main dish I chose the ravioli filled with truffle and parmesan sauce (so good) and the carrot cake as the dessert massive). But... I had Ismael Álvarez by my side so I took advantage of him and I also could try the Cerdanya trinxat, the crispy chicken with soy and honey sauce and green sprouts and the strawberry and cookies creamy dessert. Everything was really, really good (if you click HERE you can see the pictures of all their dishes). My mouth's watering just remembering it!

After the show there's also a karaoke session, which you can combine with a great cocktail at the bar. Besides, Vanessa, Juan, Sharonne and ... are around to talk with the guests. Talented and also very nice people. They have it all!! So, if you want to celebrate something or just doing something different and going to a unique and special place, I truly recommend you Zoologic Restaurant. I looking forward to coming back ASAP! By the way, you can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram ;)
