I attended yesterday the presentation of Barcelona Increíble, the first book of the journalist Ana Sánchez. It is a sort of novel/guide in which Ana is the protagonist and where she tells us more than 100 ''rare'' activities that you can do in Barcelona. The book is a compilation and a tribute to the weird (in the best sense of the word. It all began more or less three years ago, when Ana started a section in the newspaper she works for called Barceloneando.

The presentation took place at Barcelona Axe Throwing, a space where you can test your aim with an axe and a bullseye. The urban axe throwing as a sport was born in Canada, but it is spreading all over the world. Of course, Barcelona Axe Throwing appears in Ana's book and, of course, I had to try it. And I have to say that I am quite good at it, I have proof! And if you don't believe me, just watch the video ;)

Do you want to know some of the stuff that Ana has done and that you can find in the book? She attended a school for mermaids; she got drunk with Valyrian fire; she had a conversation with Kitt, the incredible car; she has called an emergency poetry phone; she got dressed to perform an exorcism; and she never leaves her house without a zomby repellent (you never know when you could use it). But not everything is as cool as it seems: stiffs, lumbago, indigestion for eating giant food... be careful when these extreme sports.

Some of the assistants to the presentatios were the guys from the Star Wars Catalunya. In fact, a couple of Star Troopers showed up and also the one and only Darth Vader, who didn't want to miss the chance to test his aim by throwing some axes (between you and me, not really his thing).

Beyond Street Art was also present. They've developed a super cool app, which you can download from beyondstreeatart.com, which allows to know Barcelona through its street art. You wanna know how it works? Just watch the video above.

The guys from Reino de Juguetes didn't want to miss this event, also. I've already talked about them in the blog (HERE). They're the first one to appear in Barcelona Increible with the Super Friki Market. Valyrian fire liquor; 24 carats cava; unicorn tears wine; insects with bbq and fine herbs flavour; fortune cookies; or Pringles and Oreos with flavours that you've never seen are just a few out of the hundreds of products that you'll find in this market located inside Galerías Maldá.

You know, if you wanna discover other side of Barcelona, the one which doesn't appear at the typical guides, Barcelona Increíble is the book you need.

Get comfy with American Vintage & its new #homewear collection

American Vintage threw a little party yesterday to welcome its new homewear collection at the 118 in Rambla Catalunya, Barcelona. This store, which opened its doors for the first time in Barcelona in 2013, is one of the biggest of the French brand.

In my opinion, American Vintage has made things as they should be done, with no hurry but also with no pause. Michael Azoulay, the father of AV, decided to trust Barcelona and it seems that he made a good choice. After launching a male and an accessories collection some years ago, now he does it with a homewear line.

This bet keeps the essence of American VintageQuality pieces looking forward to satisfying the wishes of its clients, always in search of comfort and warmth. It's a collection full of basics, both for men and women, with a strong presence of cotton and thin wool

What I like the most about this collection is the amount of options that it offers, such as the superposition of the pieces. Some of them are quite versatile as well, perfectly wearable outside.

Bienvenido a España, UNIQLO!

Instagramalberto.monteagudo
Twitter@A_Monteagudo

I went to an opening this afternoon as UNIQLO has finally come to Spain, and it seems that it knows how to make an entry. The new store is located at Passeig de Gràcia 18 (Barcelona). I couldn't miss the opportunity to go and see it with my own eyes!

The store is in front of Zara, just across the street. This is something curios as many people compare UNIQLO to Zara and, of course, its founder, Tadashi Yanay, to Amancio Ortega. But it seems that Tadashi wasn't really happy with the idea of opening just one store, so he's decided to open a second one. This one, also in Barcelona, will open its doors on November 9th, at the shopping mall called Glóries.

To be honest, what I've seen didn't convince me that much. Well, maybe ''convince'' is not the word, but I did expect something different. Considering this is a Japanese firm, I expected something more risky, something we're not used to seeing here in Europe. Nevertheless, the thing is that today there were too many people inside and it was a bit stressful. I'll come back when everything gets back to normal. It totally deserves a second chance. They do honour the slogan which is written through out the store: essentials. Basic colours and clothes, both for men and women (kids and babies clothes can be bought online) and there's also a sport clothing line made out of thin fabrics and that get dried so easily. I did a bit research and they employ the ''heat tech'' technology. It basically consists on fabrics of four different types of thread which absorb the humidity of the body turning it into heat. Besides, the clothes are more comfortable too!

There're several things of the store that have catched my attention. One of them is the mixture between modern and old, with the illuminated slogans in the columns and the leds in contrast with the huge lamp of the window and the beautiful stained glasses of the first floor. Another thing is the kiosk, where you can order clothes which are not avilable at the store and they will send them to your home. And, of course, the capsule collections of JW Anderson and Inés de la Fressange.

Presentación HAIRY - The POPair's Fanzine | Issue #1

Hairy - The POPair's Fanzine | The Sex Issue #1

HAIRY? POPair?

Flyer ''I Want Your Sex'' 05.05.17 | POPair BCN - Funny Beards - Furry Party at Metro Disco

Hairy - The POPair's Fanzine | The Sex Issue #1

Hairy - The POPair's Fanzine | The Sex Issue #1

HairyPOPair? I'm sure many of you don't know what I'm talking about, so let me give you some background. POPair is a monthly party which takes places in Barcelona since 2008. To be more precise, it takes place at the Metro Disco and its main target are bears (what you're about to read is the definition that Wikipedia provides. Though I disagree with it a little bit, it's quite funny and for those of you who aren't familiarise with the term, it'll help you):

''In male gay culture, a bear is often a larger, hairier man who projects an image of rugged masculinity.''

So, as I was telling you, POPair's main target are bears but, it's more than obvious that EVERYONE IS WELCOMED! They're celebrating tomorrow at Metro Disco a special edition of I Want Your Sex. And no, it's not a casualty that the first issue of its fanzine was launched on the same week.

Hairy - The POPair's Fanzine | The Sex Issue #1

Echoing their words, this first issue is completely dedicated to sex. I trully can assure you that after seeing the XXL pictures on the walls of Bacanal Café and after taking a look to the fanzine, they've achieved quite an erotic and naughty publication. Explicit nudity, illustrations, stories and plenty of hair but, above all, deluxe collaborations and highly aesthetic pictures taken by Torres IbarzoHAIRY recalls those all fanzines, but clearly improved by Albertoto (the artistic director) and ChaCha Studio (layout).

Hairy - The POPair's Fanzine | The Sex Issue #1

Of course, the presentation was a huge success. Plenty of people inside and outside Bacanal, celebrating that HAIRY's finally born with fresh beer by Estrella Galicia and cool music by Albertoto. By the way, they'll be giving free fanzines tomorrow at the Metro Disco to the first 400. If you want to get yours, you already have a plan for Friday night!

Discovering Manuel Bolaño's New Atelier

This week Barcelona is full of fashion. While celebrating the 080 BCN Fashion Week, there're also room for other type of events, such as the one that took place yesterday at Carrer Gran de Fracia 239Yesterday in the afternoon Manuel Bolaño celebrated the opening in Barcelona of his new atelier, thus leaving the one he had at Carrer d'Aragó. And as I did't want to miss it, there I was with Isma to see what this Catalan designer with Galician roots, who has lived among the land of the octopus and the land of the calçots, had prepared for us.

It is a really wide space, with high roofs and hidraulic floor, following the traditional Catalan style. It's a very wonderful place, indeed. The two most important spaces, the atelier and the showroom, are separated by a long aisle and, right in the middle of the aisle and just in front of the main entrance there's a manikin beautifully dressed by Manuel Bolaño

Bolaño is into the fashion world since quite a long time. He started studying design in 2002 and he also worked as a designer for Mango until he decided to continue on his own. He has won several awards, the first of them in 2007 being the best of his promotion. He's also a well known face within the 080 Barcelona Fashion.

His designs are amazing. Really elegant and feminine. Take a look to manuelbolano.com and check his collections out!

Ismael Álvarez Is Back With More ART, SEX & LIFE!

By Ismael Álvarez for ''You are a lot of men, All of them are in ICON'' (HERE)

Ismael Álvarez, ART SEX LIFE
www.ismaelalvarez.com

It isn't the first time that Ismael Álvarez appears in this blog. In fact, the first post was dedicated t him (HERE). He was also the one that designed #aRIDEthroughFASHION and he collaborated several times making some illustrations and taking some pictures for the blog.

De Ismael Álvarez para ''Victoria Beckham | Ambition & Talent'' (AQUÍ)
By Ismael Álvarez for ''Victoria Beckham | Ambition & Talent'' (HERE)

Well, it's time to talk about him again as he has just launched a book of illustrations with the title ART SEX LIFE. Those three words define him perfectly both personal and professionally. This is not his first book (IA Portfolio was the first one, followed by Completely Stripped and In Yer Face) and I'm sure it won't be the last one. ART SEX LIFE is a A5 book with 200 pages full of colour with illustrations of the artist, some of them old but most of them new, and a bunch of VERY personal pictures of Ismael which won't leave you indifferent.

Ismael Álvarez, ART SEX LIFE
www.ismaelalvarez.com

For this ocassion, Ismael has counted on a very special guest. The prologue is written by, nothing more and nothing less than by Valérie Tasso, a sexologist, writer, TV and radio collaborator and many more things that turn Valérie into a multidisciplinary artist, the same as Ismael, both united by ART, SEX and LIFE. Here it is a sneak peak of what Valérie has written for ART SEX LIFE, very meaningful words that only come out when a true symbiosis appear between two souls that are so alike:
It is maybe because of that, that I can not help but feeling some kind of sympathy and proximity, apart from some nostalgia, when now Ismael Álvarez, by yelling ''Bravo for thos who live naked, naked of prejudices'', exposes the deepest on him [...]

Ismael Álvarez, ART SEX LIFE
www.ismaelalvarez.com

I'd love to show you the whole prologue, because is simply wonderful, but I rather keep the mistery and let you discover it by yourselves. How can you get it? It's so easy! Just click on this link LUHU EDITORIAL, and it doesn't matter where you are, 'cause it can be sent all over the world! So, now that Valentine's Day is coming, or if you have someone special who's about to celebrate his/her birthday or just because you want to, give Ismael Álvarez's ART SEX LIFE, 'cause giving art is one of the most beautiful and worthy acts that someone can make.

Parachanclas! & Moritz: The Perfect Match

You'd missed me? I needed to be disconected for a while from the blog because, fortunately, I've been working the whole summer and, with the job, the heat, the beach and so on so forth I needed this break. But here I am, with the battery fully loaded and looking forward to telling you a lot of things.

This first post afther the summer break is dedicated to a brand already presented in the blog and which I like more and more everyday. They're Parachanclas!, a brand from Barcelona specialized in socks. In this ocassion they've colaborated with one of the biggest within Barcelona to create a fresh and an addictive proposal, like a good beer. And, talking about beer, I'm refering of course to Moritz (the beer thing has surprised you, hasn't it? I know you're freaking out about my ingenuity righ now...).

For those who still don't know it, Moritz is one os the top beers in Cataluña. This year is its 160th anniversary and if there's something to highlight about Moritz, that's its implication within thecultural and leisure activities of Barcelona. The Fàbrica Moritz Barcelona is located in Ronda Sant Antoni, recently renovated and turned into a very cool restaurant with really nice food. Besides, it has a space that I like a lot: the M-Store, where you can find a kiosk, fresh unpasterurized beer or an oven to cook Triticum bread. It's actually more than a simple store, it's a space which perfectly mixes tradition and modernity, where you can enjor a good beer and loads of art!

.

Taking advantage of the amazing space that the M-Store is, last Thursday we assisted to the presentation of a new pair of socks which unite perfectly the essence of both Parachanclas! and Moritz. Using yellow and blue as clear signs of identity and using the first Parachanclas! design as inspiration, the result are these massive socks with bottle caps and openers designed by Juan Díaz-Faes and that I'm looking forward to wearing them! Besides, Isma and I could meet finally the people who gave birth to Parachanclas! (Juan was among them). If we love their socks, now we love them even more! Daring and creative people who, above all, love what they do.
