Stradivarius Man Is Already Here!

Si os pido que penséis en una tienda de ropa con un olor muy característico perceptible a unos cuantos metros antes de entrar en dicha tienda, seguramente a todos se os venga a la mente la misma imagen.

Pues sí, estoy hablando de Stradivarius, ya que ha sido noticia estos días. Otro de los grandes del grupo Inditex se ha venido arriba y ha lanzado su primera línea de ropa para hombre. A mi particularmente no me sorprende. Era de esperar que tarde o temprano lo hiciera, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que, aunque no es la que más beneficios da de entre sus ''hermanas'', sí es una de las que más está creciendo (casi 1.000 tiendas repartidas en más de 60 países). Y que a nadie le extrañe que en un futuro más o menos lejano también saque línea home...

A Amancio Ortega no le basta con ser el segundo hombre más rico del mundo, y el único español entre los 20 primeros por cierto (gallego tenía que ser), que entre tienda y tienda que abre (una al día, más o menos, y ya son más de 6.000) ha decidido arriesgarse con Stradivarius Man.

Esta nueva línea ya está disponible en 32 tiendas físicas desde el pasado 1 de febrero, y también online. Confieso que aún no he entrado en ninguna tienda en la que poder ver esta línea, pero me he dado una vuelta por la tienda online y la verdad tiene muy buena pinta!

If I ask you to think about a store with a very characteristic scent which can be detected from metres aways even before coming into the store, I'm sure you all have pictured the same image on your mind.

That's it, I'm talking about Stradivarius, which has been on the spot light these days. One of the biggest within Inditex has launched its first clothing line addressed to men. I'm not particularly surprised by this news. It was somehow expected that sooner or later this had to happen. In fact, although within its ''sisters' Stradivarius is not the one which sells the most, its growth is remarkable (almost 1,000 stores in more than 60 countries). Who knows, maybe in the near future it'll launch a home line as well...  

For Amancio Ortega is not enough being one of the richest men in the world (the second, actually, and the only Spaniard within the first 20. He's from Galicia, of course). Apart from opening a store per day, basically (he's got more than 6,000 currently), he's dared to launch Stradivarius Man.

This new line is already available in 32 physical stores and online sicne 1st February. I must confess I still haven't get into any store to see it, but I did take a look to the online store and it looks quite nice!

Discovering Manuel Bolaño's New Atelier

Esta semana Barcelona rebosa moda por los 4 puntos cardinales. Sumidos en plena 080 BCN Fashion Week, también hay lugar para otro tipo de eventos, como el que tuvo ayer lugar en Carrer Gran de Gracia 239. Y es que ayer por la tarde Manuel Bolaño inauguraba en Barcelona su nuevo atelier, dejando así su anterior centro de trabajo en Carrer d'Aragó. Y como no quería perdérmelo, allí estuve yo con Isma para ver lo que este diseñador catalán de raíces gallegas, que ha vivido a medio camino entre la tierra del pulpo y la de los calçots, nos tenía preparados.

Un espacio súper amplio, de techos muy altos y suelos hidráulicos, al más puro estilo catalán. Una maravilla de sitio, vamos. Las dos zonas más importantes, la del atelier y la del showroom, están separadas por un largo pasillo, y a mitad de este pasillo, justo en frente a la entrada principal, te da la bienvenida un maniquí maravillosamente vestido de Manuel Bolaño.

Bolaño lleva años dedicándose al mundo de la moda. Empezó a estudiar diseño en el 2002 y ha trabajado como diseñador para Mango hasta que decidió hacer carrera en solitario. Ha ganado varios premios. El primero en el 2007, siendo el mejor de su promoción, y también es una de las caras más conocidas de la 080 Barcelona Fashion.

This week Barcelona is full of fashion. While celebrating the 080 BCN Fashion Week, there're also room for other type of events, such as the one that took place yesterday at Carrer Gran de Fracia 239. Yesterday in the afternoon Manuel Bolaño celebrated the opening in Barcelona of his new atelier, thus leaving the one he had at Carrer d'Aragó. And as I did't want to miss it, there I was with Isma to see what this Catalan designer with Galician roots, who has lived among the land of the octopus and the land of the calçots, had prepared for us.

It is a really wide space, with high roofs and hidraulic floor, following the traditional Catalan style. It's a very wonderful place, indeed. The two most important spaces, the atelier and the showroom, are separated by a long aisle and, right in the middle of the aisle and just in front of the main entrance there's a manikin beautifully dressed by Manuel Bolaño. 

Bolaño is into the fashion world since quite a long time. He started studying design in 2002 and he also worked as a designer for Mango until he decided to continue on his own. He has won several awards, the first of them in 2007 being the best of his promotion. He's also a well known face within the 080 Barcelona Fashion.

Ayer fue un día súper divertido e interesante. Esta semana se está celebrando la 18ª edición de la 080 Barcelona Fashion Week, que esta vez está teniendo lugar en el Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, un teatro de finales del siglo XX en el que se celebran espectáculos de todo tipo.

Yesterday was such a fun an interesting day. This week is taking place the 18th edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, a theatre built at the end of the XX century where all kinds of shows take pace.

Como os decía, ayer me lo pasé en grande. Fui con mi amiga Pilar (@pilarherce), interiorista y maquilladora (de lo mejorcito que hay) a la presentación de la colección SS 17 de Anel Yaos y, justo antes, al desfile de Pilar del Campo. Y tenemos que reconocer que salimos encantados. En lo referente a ODAXELAGNIA, que así se llama la última colección de Anel, destacan los volúmenes, los estampados y la mezcla de texturas, entre los que destaca la lana. Una de mis piezas favoritas, esta que veis en la foto. Un pantalón con toques setenteros al más puro estilo Abba y con aires flamencos, como buen sevillano que es Anel. 

As I told you, it was great being there yesterday. I went with a friend of mine, Pilar (@pilarherce), interior designer and make up artist (one of the best) to the presentation of the new Anel Yaos' collection SS 17 and, just before that one, we also watched Pilar del Campo's new proposals. We loved both actually. Talking about ODAXELAGNIA, that's the name of Anel's new collection), I'd highlight the volumes, the prints and the mixture of textures, stressing the presence of wool. One of my favourite pieces was a trouser which reminded me a little bit of Abba and the 70s and also a touch of flamenco, making honour to Anel's origins.

Y muchos os preguntaréis: qué quiere decir ODAXELAGNIA? No es una palabra inventada. De hecho, es una parafilia que hace referencia a una práctica sexual mediante la cual uno siente placer al ser mordido. Los resultados de esas mordeduras se ven reflejadas en la colección de Anel en lo que a nivel cromático se refiere: rojos, morados, verdes... Y si como parafilia podemos considerarla inusual, los diseños de Anel también lo son. La asimetría de las prendas tiene una importancia fundamental: desde jerséis oversize que pueden usarse perfectamente como vestido o falda, a camisas desestructuradas. En general es una colección muy atrevida pero a la vez cargada de cierto romanticismo.

And many of you are wondering: what does ODAXELAGNIA mean? It's a word that exits actually. It makes reference to a sexual practice by which a person feels pleasure by being bitten. The results of those bites are reflected in Anel's collection at a chromatic level: red, purple or green hues among others. This sexual practice is as unusual as Anel's designs. The asymmetry of the designs is fundamental: oversize sweaters that can be used perfectly as a dress or a skirt, and also the unstructured shirts dominate the collection. In general terms is a very daring proposal but also a quite romantic one.

Después del desfile pasamos al Photocall Area donde pasamos un ratito corto pero súper agradable amenizado con unas cerves de la mano de Moritz. No me gustaría acabar este post sin hacer mención a algunas de las personas que conocí ayer. After the show, we spent a short but really nice time at the Photocall Area, refreshed with a couple of beers from one of the sponsors, Moritz. I woudn't like to finish this post without mentioning some of the people I met yesterday.
