Hoy os quiero hablar del proyecto tan chulo que han llevado a cabo Txema Montero e Iván Jiménez, y que lleva el nombre de Odd Kiosk. Txema, arquitecto de profesión, e Iván, diseñador gráfico, se conocen desde que son pequeños. El coronavirus ha sido un golpe muy duro para todos los sectores y ellos, al igual que millones de personas, también se han visto afectados. A pesar de ello, el confinamiento les ha llevado a adentrarse en una aventura que, a día de hoy, pocos se atreverían a realizar.
I really want to let you know about the great project carried out by Txema Montero and Iván Jiménez, under the name of Odd Kiosk. Txema, who is an architect, and Iván, who is graphic designer, know each other since they were kids. Coronavirus hit hard to so many professions and they, are so many other people all over the world, have been affected too. Despite this mishap, the confinement has helped them to take the risk that, to be honest, very few people would dare to take.

A dicha aventura, como os decía antes, la han bautizado como Odd Kiosk, y se encuentra en Carrer de València 222 (Barcelona). Sinceramente, creo que tanto Txema como Iván son dos valientes como la copa de un pino, y es que hace falta serlo para, en primer lugar, ser emprendedor y abrir un negocio en los tiempos que corren y, segundo, que hayan decidido apostar por las publicaciones escritas en plena era digital.
As I told you before, the adventure has the name of Odd Kiosk, and it can be found at Carrer de València 222 (Barcelona). To be honest, I do believe that both Txema and Iván are very brave, because it takes a lot of courage to be an entrepeneur and open a business during this weird times in the first place. And secondly, it also takes courage to bet on written publications in this digital era.
Aún así, su quiosco no es un quiosco al uso. Es el primer quiosco queer del mundo mundial, al menos hasta donde yo sé. Han mantenido la estructura original de un quiosco, pero le han hecho un lavado de cara. Como buen quiosco, se puede adquirir la prensa diaria y deportiva. Pero lo que los hace especiales es su cuidada selección de publicaciones (de moda, arte, diseño...), como por ejemplo: Hairy, THE LEOPARD, Phile, Twin, Wunder, King Kong, GARAGE, Wonderland, ¡Poti-Poti!, Kink, Hunger, Tate Etc., Openhouse, SUITCASE, y mucha más. Aunque entre sus repisas también podrás adquirir libros: La vida de Kostas Venetis, A Virginia le gustaba Vita, Ariel y los cuerpos, Asalto a Oz...; y mucho arte, tanto fotografía como ilustraciones: César Segarra, Bran Solo, Daniel El Dibujo, Mr. Sis, Sofía Zuluaga, Thomas Gravereau, El Dios de los Tres, entre otros. Un total de 30 artistas LGTBIQ+ tienen su espacio en Odd Kiosk. Pero si estás en Barcelona, lo mejor es que te pases tú mismo y eches un vistazo con toda la calma del mundo mientras te tomas un snack o un cafecito que ellos mismos te servirán.
But, their kiosk is not a common kiosk. It is the first queer kiosk of the entire world, at least that is what I have been told. They have maintained the original structure of a regular kiosk, pero they have updated it. As a regular kiosk, you can get the daily and sports press. What makes them really special is the care selection of publications (of art, fashion, design...), as for instance: Hairy, THE LEOPARD, Phile, Twin, Wunder, King Kong, GARAGE, Wonderland, ¡Poti-Poti!, Kink, Hunger, Tate Etc., Openhouse, SUITCASE, and many more. Although, you will also find books (La vida de Kostas Venetis, A Virginia le gustaba Vita, Ariel y los cuerpos, Asalto a Oz...; and plenty of art, both photography and illustrations: César Segarra, Bran Solo, Daniel El Dibujo, Mr. Sis, Sofía Zuluaga, Thomas Gravereau, El Dios de los Tres, among others. A total of 30 LGBTIQ+ artists have their space in Odd Kiosk. But if you are in Barcelona, the best you can do is to visit them and take a look to everything they can offer while you eat a snack or drink a coffee that are also available at the kiosk.
Odd Kiosk abrió hace poco más un mes y la acogida ha sido súper positiva. Iván y Txema están muy contentos con cómo está reaccionando la gente y, sobre todo, muy ilusionados con el proyecto. No dudéis en hacerles una visita, porque además son encantadores.
Odd Kiosk was born almost two months ago and the reaction of the people has been very positive. Iván and Txema are so happy about people's welcome and very excited about the project. Do not hesitate to visit them, because they are also truly lovely.
