Hungry Castle | Cool Shit happens

· KR Store - C/ Sant Pere Mes Alt Nº 50

In the future, there is an art and craft famine.
He has a mission to return people to personal art.
Some will submit photos,
others will submit paintings,
but whatever the art, it’ll be projected by…
LASER CAT

______________________________

Dave Glass and Kill Cooper are guilty for flooding both the fashion and art world with their Cool Shit since they decided to join forces in 2011. Their works, really funny and striking, have managed to cause the cultural impact that Dave (known as Danger) and Kill were looking for since the beginning. Undoubtedly, they do not leave anyone indifferent!

Apart from the talent they use up, they are so likeable, and they did not hesitate to answer a few questions I asked them so we can know them a little bit better:

- How is the Cool Shit concept born? Why did you decide to call it like that?
Cool Shit was created from play. Our work became less about satisfying the client’s need and more about doing projects that made us happy.
As artists, we believe its important to divide opinion and challenge people. Whether they think our art is “cool” or whether they think its shit, if it stirs debate then Cool Shit has value.

- There’s a quote in your website that I like a lot and which states something like fashion gets inspiration from your art but it’s your art which has fashion as its basis. What kind of fashion do you pay attention to?
Lazy Oaf, Joyrich and those crazy interactive fashion events from House of Diehl.

- It’s obvious that Lionel Richie is a great source of inspiration for you. I am very curious to know what does it make him so special?
It all comes down to the “Rule of Funny” and Lionel Richie makes us laugh everytime. His Hello music video where he stalks a blind girl and she sculpts his head out of clay is just as creepy as it is comedic. People used to say comedy is the new rock’n’roll, we say “art is the new comedy.”

- Your exhibitions have been in New York, Miami, Spain, Belgium and the UK. The last one took place some months ago in Barcelona, where your creative studio is located. Do you have any exhibition in mind in the not too distant future?
Laser Cat will project art and lasers in Canada from september 12 at the Beakerhead festival. Then in October our giant interactive cat will tour the east coast of America - Boston, Chicago and New York. You can take part and show Canada and America your personal art by going to feedlasercat.com

- How long have you been living in Barcelona? Why this city?
Hungry Castle has lived in Barcelona since the beginning of Hodor. Javier Mariscal recommended we move here.

- Where do we can get your articles, apart from the online shop at your website hungrycastle.com?
Cool Shit is in stores now…when I say stores I mean:
· KR Store - C/ Sant Pere Mes Alt Nº 50
· Studio Store - C/ Comerç 17, Born
· Wa’kü Store & Gallery - C/de la Lluna 2, Raval

- Just to finish this interview, do you want to add anything else about you or your Cool Shit?
Keep watching Hungry Castle for more information about the biggest Block Party Barcelona and los mosses have ever seen. Cool Shit happens.

Thank you guys!
They're so great, don't you think!
As the icing of this cake, I want to show you some pics that Ismael Álvarez (ismaelalvarez.com) and I took the other day with some of their articles. Hope you like them as much as we do!

See you soon!!
