Cristina Tamborero | "Mírage y Eden" at #BBFW16

Estos días está teniendo lugar en Barcelona la 26ª edición de la Bridal Fashion Week, el evento nupcial más importante y completo a nivel mundial compuesto por Fashion Shows y un Professional Trade Fair que da cita a diseñadores y clientes nacionales e internacionales.

Este mediodía tuve la suerte de poder asistir al desfile de Cristina Tamborero, que presentó su colección para el próximo 2017 bajo el nombre "Mírage y Eden". Me gustaría empezar dándole las gracias a Miriam por la invitación y felicitando a Cristina por su maravillosa colección. Era difícil rechazar la invitación, ya que conocía de antemano el trabajo de Cristina. Hace unas meses acudí a su atelier en Paseo de Gracia acompañando a Miriam para su prueba de vestido de novia. Me quedé embobado no sólo con lo bien que le quedaba el vestido a Miriam y lo bonito que era, sino con el resto de vestidos, tanto de novia como de fiesta, que Cristina tenía expuestos en su atelier.

El desfile de Cristina Tamborero estuvo dividido en dos partes. En la primera los protagonistas eran los vestidos de Fiesta, de colores vivos en los que destacaba el rojo, el amarillo y el azul. Aunque en mi opinión, la pieza estrella era un mono en tonos nude precioso y del cual, desafortunadamente, no tengo foto. En la segunda parte aparecieron las novias, tan guapas que daban ganas de casarse!!

Las propuestas de Cristina se basan en la sencillez y en la feminidad. Destacan los dos piezas, los crop tops muy trabajados y las espaldas al aire. Tejidos nobles y vaporosos y diseños atemporales  hacen de "Mírage y Eden" la colección perfecta para una ocasión tan importante.

Si tenéis previsto casaros pronto, o simplemente vais como invitadas, os aconsejo enormemente que os paséis por el atelier de Cristina Tamborero, os quedaréis embobadas no sólo con lo bonitas que sos sus creaciones si no también con lo simpática que es en las distancias cortas. Por cierto, aprovecho para felicitarla por partida doble, una por la colección, y otra porque me he enterado de que va a ser mami! Muchos éxitos y la mejor de las suertes, Cristina.

The 26th edition of the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is taking place these days. It is the most important and complete event in this sector as it is not only focused on Fashion Shows but it also has a Professional Trade Fair which is a referent point for many national and international designers and customers.

This morning I could attend Cristina Tamborero's show, in which she presented her 2017 collection named "Mírage y Eden". I'd like to start thanking Miriam for the invitation and congratulating Cristina for her marvelous collection. It was so difficult to reject such invitation, as I already knew Cristina's work. Some months ago I went to her atelier at Paseo de Gracia with Miriam as she had to try her wedding dress. I was amazed, not only because the dress fit Miriam perfectly and it was really beautiful, but also because of all the dresses, both party and bridal, that Cristina has in the atelier.

Cristina Tamborero's show was divided in two main sections. The first one was focused on party dresses. Very colorful, with the red, yellow and blue as protagonists. Although my favorite one was a gorgeous jumpsuit in nude hues but, unfortunately, I have no picture of that one. In the second part, the brides showed up, and they were so stunningly beautiful that I really wanted to get married!

Cristina's proposal is based on simplicity and femininity. I must highlight the two-piece dresses, the elaborated crop tops and the open backs. Noble and filmy fabrics and timeless designs turn "Mírage y Eden" into the perfect collection for such and special occasion.

If you're going to marry soon, or if you're going as a guest, my advice for you is to go to Cristina Tamborero's atelier and you'll feel wonderful not only with the beauty of her creations but also with her kindness and sympathy. By the way, I would also like to congratulate her as I found out that she's going to be a mom! Wish you luck and success, Cristina.

Denim Day | Sexual Violence Prevention & Education Campaign

Hoy, 27 de abril, se celebra el Denim Day, pero lo curioso de este día no es el hecho de que haya que vestir prendas vaqueras, si no la historia que se esconde detrás de todo ello.

Todo empezó en 1992, en Roma, cuando un profesor de autoescuela de 45 años fue a darle su primera clase práctica a una alumna de 18 años. En lugar de conducir, el profesor violó a la chica durante una hora y amenazó con matarla si se lo contaba a alguien. La chica, a pesar de la amenaza, se lo contó a sus padres y denunciaron al profesor. En 1998 éste fue absuelto por el Tribunal Supremo italiano excusándose en el hecho de que la chica, en el momento de la violación, llevaba unos vaqueros tan ajustados, que el profesor no hubiera podido quitárselos de no haber sido ayudado por la chica y por lo tanto no habría violación, sino algo consensuado. Asqueroso, ¿verdad? Estas son algunas de las perlas que se soltaron durante la audiencia:

- "because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them... and by removing the jeans... it was no longer rape but consensual sex"

- "it is a fact of common experience that it is nearly impossible to slip off tight jeans even partly without the active collaboration of the person who is wearing them."

Cómo os podéis imaginar, después de esta decisión las protestas no se hicieron esperar. A las mujeres del Parlamento Italiano que protestaron bajo el lema 'Jeans: An Alibi for Rape' (Vaqueros: Una Coartada para Violar), les siguió el Senado y la Asamblea Estatal de California.

A día de hoy, en Estados Unidos son más de 20 estados los que celebran el Denim Day en abril, y en España ha empezado a tener visibilidad este año gracias a Guess Foundation, muy implicada en temas que involucran la violencia de género. Today, April 27th, the Denim Day is taking place. Though, the most interesting thing about this day isn't the fact that you're encourage to wear jeans, but the story behind it.

It all began in 1992, in Roma, when a 45-year-old driving instructor took a 18-year-old girl for her first driving lesson. Instead of driving, he raped her for an hour and then he threatened her with killing her if she told it to anyone. The girls, despite the threat, told her parents and they took the instructor to court. In 1998, he was absolved by the Italian Supreme Court with the excuse that the girl, when she was raped, wore very tight jeans, So, the instructor couldn't have taken the jeans off without the help of the girl thus, instead of raping her, the girl agreed to have sex with him. Disgusting, isn't it? The following are some of the nice things that were said that day:

- "because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them... and by removing the jeans... it was no longer rape but consensual sex"

- "it is a fact of common experience that it is nearly impossible to slip off tight jeans even partly without the active collaboration of the person who is wearing them."

As you can imagine, after this decision, women began to protest. The women of the Italian Parliament, who protested with the slogan 'Jeans: An Alibi for Rape', were followed by the California Senate and Assembly.

Nowadays, there're more than 20 states in the U.S. which celebrate the Denim Day in April. It's begun to have some visibility in Spain this year thanks to Guess Foundation, which is deeply involved with causes related to gender violence.
